Rice industry

95% of rice is grown in the surrounding area under highly controlled precision irrigation systems with Australia recognized as one of the world’s most water efficient producers.  Combined with advanced farm management technologies, water recycling, and improved varieties farmers have significantly reduced the amount of water required to produce the crops compared with past decades.

Annual production varies depending on water availability.  Varieties grown include medium grain rice; long grain rice and specialty rice.
